Laminate has come a long way. Today’s products give you sharp, realistic wood visuals and a hard, scratch-resistant wear surface at a budget-friendly price — which makes it a smart choice for bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and home offices where you want the wood look without the wood price.

Here’s the honest tradeoff, and we’ll always tell you up front: most laminate has a wood- based (HDF) core, so unlike SPC or LVP it is not fully waterproof. Standing water can cause swelling at the seams. That makes laminate a great value in dry rooms, but for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms or anywhere spills are likely, we’ll steer you toward a waterproof SPC or vinyl product instead. (Some newer water-resistant laminates exist — ask us if you want the laminate look in a borderline room.)

Installed as a floating click-lock floor over a flat, dry subfloor with the proper underlayment, laminate is fast to install and easy to maintain.
