Stone Composite Flooring (SPC)
The Floor We Recommend Most — and Here’s Why
If you want the best balance of price, durability and performance, SPC is hard to beat, and it’s the product we sell more of than anything else. SPC stands for Stone Plastic Composite: a rigid core made from limestone powder and stabilized PVC that gives the plank exceptional dimensional stability. In plain terms, it doesn’t swell, warp or telegraph subfloor imperfections the way softer floors can.
It’s also 100% waterproof, top to bottom — spills, mopping, kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms are no problem. A tough printed wear layer (measured in mils — thicker means more scratch and dent resistance) sits over realistic wood, stone and textured visuals, and most planks include an attached underlayment for a quieter, more comfortable step. The rigid core also handles temperature and humidity swings well, so it performs reliably from coastal homes to hot inland valleys.
Installation is a precise click-lock floating system over a properly prepared, flat subfloor — fast to install and easy to live on.
One note on honesty: There are big quality differences in SPC, mostly in wear-layer thickness and core density. We’ll show you where to spend and where you don’t need to, so you get the right floor at the right price.
Perfect for: Living areas, kitchens, basements, bedrooms, offices, rentals and light commercial spaces. Call 619-727-9066 for samples.
