Descanso

Descanso sits up in the foothills toward the Cuyamaca Mountains, at an elevation that gives it a genuinely different climate from the valleys below — warm, dry summers but distinctly cooler nights, occasional winter frost, and the larger temperature extremes that come with mountain country. That swing between hot days and cold nights is the key flooring factor here: concrete that expands and contracts hard needs coatings and crack treatment that can move with it.

For Descanso garages, shops and rural outbuildings, we install flake epoxy systems with flexible crack treatment built to absorb that expansion and contraction, sealed with UVstable topcoats for the high-elevation sun (UV is stronger at altitude). Because foothill properties often have older or moisture-prone slabs — and occasional frost in winter — we test carefully and use our moisture-barrier system where vapor or cold-season moisture is a concern, since a sealed slab handles temperature extremes far better than a compromised one.

Inside, rigid SPC is ideal for the temperature swings, staying stable and waterproof where softer floors might gap in winter and tighten in summer heat. It’s a durable, lowmaintenance fit for rural foothill homes.
